Jacob Smith for Butler Community College Board of Trustees

I’m running for the Butler Community College Board of Trustees to reduce taxes.
I am an Augusta High School and Kansas State University graduate who recently retired from the U.S. Army after 25+ years of service. My wife and I returned to our hometown of Augusta to put down roots and serve our community. I’m running for the Butler Community College Board of Trustees because I’m tired of the repeated tax increases imposed by the current board. If families must live within their budgets, then so should our colleges and government organizations. We can’t raise our income by taxing our neighbors, and neither should Butler Community College. The focus must remain on providing education and skills that prepare students for meaningful employment, with programs that are fiscally responsible and not an ever-growing burden on county residents.
1. Fiscal Responsibility Without Raising Taxes

4. Community Engagement
5. Strategic Planning for Long-Term Sustainability
As your Trustee, I will be a vigilant steward of public funds, a champion for accessible education, and a voice for our community. Together, we can strengthen our college without increasing the financial burden on taxpayers.
